From Cut to Quilt: A Beginner’s Series. 4 part series sign up for one or all. March 7-28

Get started on your quilting journey with our Beginner Quilting Series, where all the essential supplies are included! Each student will receive a fat quarter bundle of their choice, a spool of thread, and a quilting needle to use throughout the four-part class. This hands-on series is designed to guide you step by step through the quilting process—from tools and cutting to piecing, quilting, and binding. By the end, you’ll have a completed 12-inch churn dash block and the confidence to start your next project!

You can sign up for all 4 session or just the techniques you need to work on.

This is beginner friendly, the only prerequisite is that you can sew and know how to use a sewing machine.  We have our Sewing Machine Essentials Class offered twice each month for those that may need a refresher on the basics.

🧵 Session 1: Tools of the Trade

• Introduction to essential quilting tools: rotary cutter, cutting mat, ruler. How do they work together to get the perfect cut.
• Understanding fabric grain and how it affects cutting
• Choosing the right needles & thread for your project

🧵 Session 2: Cutting & Piecing Basics

• Hands-on practice using a rotary cutter and ruler
• Cutting fabric pieces for a 12-inch churn dash block
• Basic piecing techniques, including seam allowances & pressing

🧵 Session 3: Basting & Quilting

• Layering and basting techniques for small projects
• Introduction to quilting techniques (straight-line quilting, stitch-in-the-ditch, etc.)
• Troubleshooting common quilting issues

🧵 Session 4: Binding Like a Pro

• Three different binding techniques (machine, hand, and hybrid)
• Tips for achieving clean corners and a professional finish
• Finalizing and admiring your first quilted block!
