Take your serger skills beyond seam finishing and discover the creative possibilities of the flatlock stitch! In this fun and technique-filled class, students will learn how to create a stunning decorative pillow while exploring one of the most versatile stitches available your overlocker.

During class, you'll learn the difference between wide and narrow flatlock stitches, how to create both the loop and ladder sides of the stitch, and how decorative threads can transform a functional seam into a beautiful design element. We'll discuss machine setup, tension adjustments, Micro Thread Control (MTC), and techniques for working with ribbons, trims, and specialty materials. Flatlock stitches can be used decoratively, for hems, and for creating unique fabric effects. 

Students will construct a decorative pillow inspired by the WeAllSew Flatlock Pillow project while gaining confidence with their  overlocker's creative capabilities. Along the way, you'll learn piecing techniques, decorative construction methods, and zipper installation tips.

Class Policies

Students should have a basic understanding of their machine's operation before class. While we will work through the project together, students are not guaranteed to complete their pillow during class and may need to finish portions at home. Please arrive with your machine in good working order and all required supplies. Classes are non-refundable unless canceled by North Shore Quilting.
