This class is designed for beginner sewists who are ready to build their confidence while learning foundational quilting techniques. You'll practice accurate cutting, piecing, quilting, topstitching, and basic project assembly as you create a personalized mat that protects your work surface and keeps your most-used tools within easy reach.
Whether you're just starting your sewing journey or looking to sharpen your skills, this project is both functional and fun—and you'll leave class with a finished organizer you'll use every time you sew.

Bring your favorite sewing tools (snips, seam ripper, seam gauge, tweezers, marking tools, etc.) so you can customize the size and placement of your storage pockets.
Class Policies

Please arrive 10–15 minutes before class begins to allow time to set up your sewing machine.

Your sewing machine should be in good working order and you should be familiar with its basic operation, including threading, winding a bobbin, and changing stitches.

Supplies should be purchased and prepared prior to class unless otherwise noted.

Rotary cutters should have a sharp blade, and sewing machines should be cleaned and in proper working condition before class.

While every effort will be made to complete the project during class, completion cannot be guaranteed. Students may need to finish portions of the project at home.

Cancellations made at least 7 days before the class will receive store credit. Cancellations made less than 7 days before class are non-refundable unless we are able to fill your spot.

North Shore Quilting & Fiber Art reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes due to low enrollment. If a class is canceled by the shop, students will receive a full refund or may transfer to another class.
